Guided Reading Overview

Guided Reading is a method of teaching reading with a small group of students of similar reading abilities. This group,  usually 4 to 6 students, is guided by the teacher through the text using prior knowledge, visual clues and conversation to build comprehension and fluency. At New Traditions we use the Fountas and Pinnell assessment program. Guided Reading is beneficial to both upper grades and lower grades and recognizes the wide array of reading levels within a grade level.
